Settlement on the site commenced in about 1838. Present-day Mugga Mugga is set on seventeen hectares of grazing land, its centerpiece is a simple cottage built for the head shepherd of Duntroon in the 1870s.

Why not make it a day and visit both Calthorpes’ House and Mugga-Mugga Cottage. A visit to both properties will illustrate the differences in the daily lives of two families, one which enjoyed the luxuries of all the ‘mod cons’ and one which still lived a simple, rural life.
