On the Farm: School Holiday Program at Lanyon

Thursday 17 and Friday 18 July › 10.00am – 12.00pm

Join Lanyon’s farmer, Andrew Geikie, to find out about life on a farm. Give Andrew a hand with his jobs - feed the animals, collect the eggs and check the water pump. After finishing all your hard work, join Andrew for damper in the harness room.

Suitable for 5 to 8 year olds.

Experiment with a variety of printmaking techniques and materials to create your very own artwork, using Sidney Nolan’s works as inspiration.

Do you prefer Dorothy Perkins, Queen Elizabeth or Lilli Marlene? Whatever your preference, be it the traditional rambler or the modern hybrid, Graham Williams, Lanyon’s Head Gardener, provides sound
advice and practical demonstrations to help get your roses in tip-top shape for spring.

Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 November › 10.00 – 4.00pm

Canberra textile artist Lilly Vermeesch leads a weekend workshop where participants will use plants from the Lanyon garden to create natural dyes. Participants will explore plants suitable for use, learn how to collect samples, brew dye baths, explore patterning techniques and dye a range of natural cloth samples. Participants will have the opportunity to work on individual projects such as a scarf, wrap or artwork. Ready-to-dye silk scarfs for individual projects will be available to purchase separately. A fascinating workshop for those interested in environmentally sustainable approaches to making and using colour.

For: Adults. No previous experience is necessary.

Lanyon Machinery Shed


Sunday 14 December › 5.00 – 9.00pm
(Carols commence at 7.00pm)

An evening of magical Christmas fun. Bring your own picnic to enjoy in the beautiful Lanyon gardens. Listen to the festive music of the Sing Australia
Choir and Tuggeranong Valley Band as the sun sets over the Brindabellas.
The Homestead will be lit by candles and decorated for a 19th century Christmas. Enjoy Christmas decoration-making for children, a sausage sizzle, musical entertainment and carols on the lawns. Presented in association with Sing Australia and the Tuggeranong Valley Band
