Housing a permanent collection, Reflecting Canberra, and a variety of local, national and international exhibitions, CMAG provides a refreshing insight to the integration of social history and the visual arts.
Children will journey through the exhibition
Elioth Gruner: the texture of light through the interplay of art, geography and historical artefacts. Travelling through a timeline of art works, children discover how Canberra looked almost one hundred years ago through the eyes of a painter, Elioth Gruner. The gallery experience aims to highlight a variety of ways that art may be viewed and experienced. In the studio, children will explore and experiment with some of the tools and techniques Gruner used to create both portraits and landscapes.
A wonderful way of introducing children to artworks within a gallery setting.
