On the 1st July 2013 the Commonwealth Government presented a Centenary gift to the people of the Australian Capital Territory. It consists of the original Grant of Armorial Bearings for the City of Canberra, dispatch boxes and an impress seal of the Federal Capital Commissioners and the City of Canberra.
This significant historical material is now under the stewardship of the ACT Government.
It is displayed for the first time at Canberra Museum and Gallery in collaboration with the Territory Records Office.
This impress seal was used to authenticate documents originating from the Federal Capital Commission. The matrix (mould) holds the image of the Arms of the Federal Capital Commissioners and the City of Canberra.
