Inspired by the exhibition 2113: A Canberra Odyssey, children aged 2–3 years and their carers will celebrate the colour, shape and movement of our city through a variety of hands-on, guided activities in the CMAG studio.

$5 per child (ACT M&G Members and eligible concession card holders free); bookings are essential and open Sun 29 September.

Kelly…back in the Can


Tue 29, Wed 30, Thu 31 October: 9.30–10.45am and 11.45am–1.00pm

Ned Kelly and his friends are back in Canberra! Celebrate CMAG’s iconic Nolan Collection and Canberra’s Centenary in a fun-filled stop motion animation workshop inspired by Sidney Nolan’s paintings and Canberra landmarks. Animations may be viewed via YouTube from Mon 14 October. A Centenary of Canberra project funded by the Australian Government.

$20 (ACT M&G Members $15), payment due by Fri 4 October, for children aged 7 to 12 years; please bring your own snacks and a drink.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM: Terrific terrariums


Wed 2 and Thu 3 October: 10.30am–12.30pm (6 to 12 years)

Tour Lanyon homestead and gardens to discover just how much plants were loved during the Victorian era. Through art, gardening and games, be inspired to create a tiny plant filled world by assembling your own terrarium.

$20 (ACT M&G Members $15), includes all materials, bookings and payment by Fri 27 September.

Mon 15 July: 10.00am–12.30pm (5 to 8 years) and
Tue 16 July: 10.00am–12.30pm (8 to 11 years)

Join us to design and print wallpaper patterns inspired by the colours,
textures and landscape of historic Mugga-Mugga.

$20 (ACT M&G Members $15), includes all materials, payment by Wed 10 July, please wear outdoor clothing and sturdy closed-toe shoes.

Have your cake and eat it too


Wed 17 or Thu 18 April: 10.00am–12.00pm

Let’s bake fairy cakes in the wood-fired stove. Explore the house and play old fashioned games while the cakes cool, then get creative and decorate your sweet treats.

$12 (ACT M&G Members $8), payment due by Fri 12 April, for children aged 6 to 10 years, please bring your own drink.

13 Mar and 15 March

Dress for mess is the advice from organisers of this workshop where children aged 2-3 years and their carers will explore the alluring and tactile materials employed by artists in the Marking Place exhibition.Hands-on activities in the CMAG studio will keep everyone entertained during the workshops on 13 to 15 March between 9.30 and 10.45am and 11.45am and 1pm.
