Celebrate the Queen’s Birthday long weekend with a visit to Calthorpes’ House. View the exhibition in the garage featuring an invitation for Mrs Calthorpe to attend a garden party at Government House in honour of the Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Canberra in 1954.
Sat 30 August: 12–1pm or 1.30–2.30pm
Visit Calthorpes’ House for a guided tour that includes live music, singing and dancing. Always by Irving Berlin was the family’s theme song. Music and dance were always a part of family life: relaxing at home, holding parties, on car trips, or on holidays. Join author and academic, Dr Jennifer Gall, and music researcher and ACT Historic Places community programs officer, Dr Julie Rickwood, to celebrate the end of winter by exploring the role of music and dance in the life of the Calthorpe family.
$10 adult, $5 child (ACT M&G members free), payment due by Tue 26 August.
