Original furnishings, household appliances and photos reflect the fashionable ideal of style and taste in the middle class Australian home of the late 1920s.

SLOW FOOD WINTER WARMERS

Sunday 27 July › 1.00 – 4.00pm

It’s time for some hearty fare! Join members from Slow Food
Canberra as they prepare dishes reminiscent of the 1920s and
1930s. Join in the exchange of ideas and advice in the historic
Calthorpes kitchen as you warm yourself by the wood-fi red stove.

TOURING TEXTILES

Saturday 16 August › 2.00 – 4.00pm

The wardrobes at Calthorpes’ House are full of fabulous fashions.
Hidden away in cupboards, dressing tables and drawers, these
fragile survivors illustrate the lives of the Calthorpe ladies who
wore and used them. Join us for a special tour where you can
see these fragile survivors in more detail

MUSIC IN THE GARDEN

Saturday 25 October › 12.00 – 4.00pm

Celebrate spring with a delightful afternoon of music in the
garden at Calthorpes’ House. Bring your own picnic to enjoy
on the lawn whilst you listen to ensembles and solo performers
from the ANU School of Music.
