A visit to Calthorpes’ House will take you back to the time when the Calthorpe Family lived in the house.

Enjoy hearing the family Pianola played by one of our friendly guides, explore the house and garden, and be sure to enter the air raid shelter at the back of the property - it is a somber reminder that Canberrans did fear attack during World War Two. Then relax with afternoon tea on the front verandah.

Calthorpes’ House offers a range of community programs and events, and education programs at selected times throughout the year.

The delightful gardens at Calthorpes’ House would not be possible without the support of the Howlong Nursery who supply the annual seedlings.
